I have been asked many times what I mean by this in a certain song or what I mean by that in a certain song, so I thought I would try to answer some of the questions and post them here on the website blog page. One that pops up quite a bit is a line from the second verse of The Body. But, rather than explaining the one line, I will explain what I was trying to say in the song. If you believe in Jesus Christ, that He is the Son of God, that He sacrificed His life for the forgiveness of our sins, that He is our Savior, our Redeemer, our Lord, then I think that it would be safe to say that you are a Christian. As such, you are a part of the earthly body of Christ. In the beginning, we were just Christians, followers of our Lord, but somewhere along the way, people disagreed about this or that, and split from the body to start their own Christian "Religion". From the beginning until the present day, this has happened over and over again. Each time the body splits, a new Religion begins. I believe that this weakens the body. I look forward to the day that the body reunites, when we can throw away all the "Religion" tags and become just Christians again. But I don't believe that that will happen until our Lord comes again. In the mean time, I believe that it is every Christian's duty to keep in touch, to encourage, and maintain a working relationship with other parts of the body. But, some Religions believe that they are the true body, the only church that our Lord recognizes, and they believe that all other Christian's that don't belong to their church and "Religion" are all misguided and wrong. This is not only very arrogant and egotistical, but untrue. As I said at the start, if you believe and have faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, then you are a Christian and a part of the body of Christ, regardless of the religious tag associated with your church. I also feel that it is the duty and responsibility of the leaders of the different Christian denominations to work towards the unification of the body by talking and working with other leaders of different denominations and encouraging their members to do the same, since we are all a part of the same body. If they instead encourage the separation of their members from the rest of the body because they really bellieve that they are the true body of Christ, then they should begin reading the Bible again, and pray for enlightenment. If it's because they are afraid of losing their position or power, then they are nothing more than a modern day Pharisee.
